Hypno Birthing Stories and Photographs Birthing with Hypnosis Stories and Photographs
Dear Angela,
Charlotte is 6 months now and keeps me extremely busy!
Thank you for everything. I honestly don't know how I could have gotten through my labor without Hypnobirthing, it really was a huge part in making it such a memorable experience.
I focused a lot on deep breathing and during contractions I imagined my body was swinging and floating in the air. This is something I did without even practicing, it just happened that way during labor. I did practice deep breathing a lot through the 2 months before the birth - that kept me relaxed. And - I had absolutely no notion of time. I couldn't tell how long a contraction was or the time in between them. I thought that I had pushed only for about 20 minutes and was shocked to learn I had been pushing for 2 hours and 15 minutes. I was practicing about 1 hour a day for the 2 months before labor - I miss it, I feel like I need that kind of meditation/relaxation/visualization now!!
Hypnobirthing is wonderful - I wish I could scream it to the world because it really works. It takes a lot of practice and discipline, but it works. I hope all is well. Fondly, Amanda (Mother of Alexandra and Charlotte), 2002
Dear Angela, Thank you very much for teaching Simon and I hypnobirthing. I tend to be a skeptical person. I am convinced that hypnobirthing was a major reason why my birthing experience was so positive.
I wanted to learn hypnobirthing because I felt the birthing classes I had already attended were not sufficient and did not provide useful tools or strategies for dealing with childbirth. Hypnobirthing gave me those.
I am recommending you and hypnobirthing to people. Thanks for all you have done.-Ellen, April 14, 2003
Dear Angela,
My husband and I are delighted to share with you that our daughter Desiree Marie was born on Wednesday March 1 at 1:06 a.m. She weighted in at 6 lbs 3 oz. Not bad for a baby 3 weeks early.
Thank goodness we had the last class on the depthometer method. It got me through the last 11 or 12 h ours of my 22 hour labor.
None of the nurses or my doctor could believe I was so relaxed. At first they could never tell when I was having a contraction but as the hours grew, they caught on-if my eyes were closed or I was holding up one finger, signaling my husband to stoke my arm-then I was having a contraction.
Things were pretty hectic on the labor and delivery floor that night and my doctor said there was such good karma in our room that she wished she could hide out in there for the rest of the evening. Her mouth literally fell to the ground when she saw me lying still, shoulders and face relaxed, only find out that I was in the middle of a contraction.
The perineal massage must work too. As much as I didn’t want to do it, I’m glad that I did ; no episiotomy or perineum tear for me.
Birthing Desiree was the most powerful and divine experience of my life and my husband and I wish you all a happy and healthy birthing experience.
Sincerely, D & D
Dion, mother of Desiree Maria, born March 1, 2000. (This couple did not attend the last class of the course because Dion went into labor 3 weeks early)
Dear Angela, "I don't know how I would have managed without it. Based on my experience, it was much more effective for pain management than 'traditional' methods such as walking, warm showers, etc. I wanted a vaginal delivery with no epidural and no episiotomy and that's what I got. Without HypnoBirthing, I would have given up and asked for an epidural. Inevitably I would have had an episiotomy or even a c-section."- Michelle (mother of Patrick) Spring 1999
Dear Angela, Words can't adequately express my gratitude for your presence at Patrick's birth. You will always hold a special place in my memory for your participation and assistance and kindness to me in the late stages of my pregnancy and during the birthing. I am using the relaxation exercises as part of my daily life, to assist me with breastfeeding and things are going well so far...Many Thanks,Michelle (Mother of Patrick), Spring 1999
Dear Angela, I saw you for several sessions back in March and April because my baby was in a breech position - I was referred by a friend. I just wanted to let you know that everything went exceedingly well with the c-section. I used the techniques we worked on and I had your cds on my ipod which I listened to at different points. The work we did helped me to stay focused and calm and as a result I had a wonderful birth experience (even though it was far from the natural childbirth I had planned on).Our perfect baby girl was born in April. We are thrilled with her. Thank you again for all your support. I will definitely be recommending you to friends.Be well, SarahDear Angela, I hope you are well and thank you for everything. I am recommending hypnobirthing to everyone I know who is pregnant. It really made a difference for me. Here are some pictures of the baby and Joe says hello.
Sincerely, Deborah
"HypnoBirthing was extremely helpful and I did not have pain associated with the contractions. The labor was easy and took about 7 hours. I was offered Demerol, but I declined, HypnoBirthing gave me the kind of birthing experience I wanted. My birthing experience was relaxed & calm-it also assuaged any fears I had about giving birth. Also there was no real pain involved." - Deborah, mother of Nigel, born November 29, 1999
Hi Angela, So good to hear from you. We did have the c-section. We waited till his due date to give him a chance to come on his own. I would have gone for 2 weeks past the due date but the reality was that he was growing more than 1/2 a pound a week which would have made him 11 pds. The truth is that we were a wreck over the AFP drama and I did not want to be induced to have to end up with an emergency c-section. My girlfriend had one weeks before me and it was a nightmare. I felt the c-section was a really good educated decision. The gods honest truth is the c-section was an incredible experience. I used the hypno-birthing throughout. The anesthesiologist told me he could not believe the way I went through the surgery. My attitude was extremely joyous and positive. My blood pressure, pulse were stable the entire time. I had no vomiting and very, very slight nausea which he adjusted. Strangely, I felt confident and in control of myself throughout. Will and I felt incredible connection with eachother, and Liam throughout. Eventhough, I had moments of sadness that I didn't have the natural birth I had worked so hard for, I would not change Liams birth day for anything. Like I said medically I wouldn't want to be anywhere else but with Dr. Marks. She did an incredible job on the surgery. She was meticulous.
All in all, the hypnobirthing was a godsend. I feel that it really helped me get through a very stressful time prior to the surgery as well as allowing me to be fully present during the birth. I find I can use it in many ways in my life. We can't thank you enough for your training, your support and genuine kindness. Let's keep in touch. Sincerely,
Ali, Will & of course baby Liam"I was with my wife for the birth of our first child. It was a bad experience for us. Birthing with Hypnosis
We teach self-hypnosis in group or individual sessions along with evidenced based gentle birthing methods. The process is intended to not only teach a specific technique that will help you to control, and in many cases, completely eliminate pain; but to also educate and inform you and your partner of practices which will facilitate a natural birth. Most importantly it will allow you and your partner to make informed choices as to how you would like to see your baby brought into the world.
Hypnosis will eliminate the fear with which most women in the western world approach pregnancy and child birth. It is this fear which inhibits your body's own natural ability to birth without medication. Hypnosis does not remove you from the birthing process; which is a common misconception about the nature of hypnosis. In fact the opposite is true.By breaking the cycle of fear-tension-pain through knowledge and learned relaxation through self hypnosis, birthing becomes the natural process your body is capable of. Instead of fear and pain your body's own natural abilities to give birth take over. During labor you remain in a deep state of relaxation.
Through training in self hypnosis you will be able to make positive suggestions to yourself as to what to feel during each and every contraction. You will be aware of your body's contractions, but will have predetermined what you want to feel. Although your are in a self induced hypnotic state, you remain awake and aware and are able to participate actively in the baby's birth.
You and your birth companion learn to create an atmosphere of intimacy and calm. Your birth companion has a specific and important role in supporting your practice of self hypnosis by learning a specific technique for enhancing your hypnotic state.
Hypnobirthing and evidenced based information about birthing practices places you and your birth companion in control of your birthing experience. Together you prepare a birthing plan based on the best sources of information for evidence based practices in childbirth. The concept of medically indicated, versus elective or routine intervention, is thoroughly explored. You and your birth companion receive support in discussing your complete birthing plan with your care giver.HypnoBirthing is taught in Group & Individual sessions.
About Hypnosis
Hypnosis is a
natural state of deep mental and physical relaxation. During
this time, your subconscious readily accepts positive
suggestions for change.
Your subconscious is like a computer it functions
only on what is programmed into it.
Our goal here at Better Living Hypnosis is to assist you in
reprogramming your subconscious so that you can make the changes you so
desire.
Have you ever driven past your exit or called your
child numerous times because they were so engrossed in a TV show? These
are everyday examples of being in hypnosis.
Hypnosis has been around for several
hundred years and was approved by the (AMA) American Medical Association
for therapeutic use back in 1958.

"I am strongly committed to seeing clients get results. So I listen very carefully to what clients are saying in order to determine what self-limiting beliefs and thoughts may be interfering with their goals, then I design your session around your specific goals and needs. I often include a range of proven hypnotic suggestions and positive imagery, as well as powerful NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) techniques, Parts Therapy and 5 Path and 7 Path techniques. Mine is a personal, intuitive, spiritual and technical approach. I offer an eclectic mix of techniques, choosing from a myriad of methods those that I think will be the most effective for you, instead of being dependent upon just a few.
I believe you have more power over your life than you think. I'd like to help you prove that to yourself through using the power of your own mind and the power of hypnosis. You can change your life for the better, and use your imagination for yourself, instead of against yourself. All sessions are live and tailored to you and you alone. All sessions are held in strict confidentiality.

Hypnosis is like the Secret on Steroids.
The Law of Attraction states that you get what you focus on. Studies have proven that the subconscious mind cannot tell the difference between a vividly imagined event and a real one. Hypnosis is one of the most powerful tools you have for focusing your mind upon your goals, changing beliefs at a subconscious level, and therefore changing behavior, reaction patterns, and thoughts much faster. With hypnosis and NLP, beliefs can be changed in an instant, and once beliefs are changed, your thinking, behavior, and emotions follow suit. This just demonstrates the power of belief in action, allowing you to bring your goals into reality much faster. It is also true that sometimes our subconscious mind needs to hear a new belief or thought repeated, until it gets the message. So repetition may be required. But if you do the work, you will get results. Remember, the real work is done in the mind.
Q. What is hypnosis?
A. Hypnosis has been defined simply as focused concentration and a heightened receptivity to suggestions. Others define it as a "natural, yet altered state of consciousness that allows us to bypass the critical judgment of the conscious mind and talk directly to the subconscious." Simply put, this means we ask the conscious mind to step aside while we speak to the subconscious. Relaxation often accompanies hypnosis, but in fact is not required for hypnosis. Hypnosis is actually a technique that gives you more control over your mind, allowing you to more quickly manifest your goals. Thousands of case histories testify to the fact that hypnosis is a safe, natural and powerful technique for change. Hypnosis is, in fact, an excellent way to train our imaginations to work for us, instead of against us.
While you are undergoing hypnosis, all extraneous data is shut out and the focus is on one goal or image. This intensity of thought and emotion has the effect of channeling all our energy towards change, cutting through limiting beliefs and summoning powerful energies on our behalf. If you think of the different between the diffused energy of the sun versus the focused concentration of the sun's energy into a laser beam, you have an idea of how hypnosis works. Your regular waking conscious is the sun, your thoughts under hypnosis are the laser beam.
Q. Can I be hypnotized?
A. YES. The vast majority of the population can be hypnotized. In fact, we all go in and out of hypnosis many times during the day. If youve ever passed your exit on the highway, daydreamed during a meeting, or lost yourself in a good book, you were in a light state of hypnosis. And a light state is all we need for most of the work that we do, including weight loss, smoking, overcoming fears of public speaking and so forth. We do not need depth to achieve results. After eight years in practice, I've only had a handful of clients who did not go into trance during the first session. However, often success was achieved on subsequent sessions. So even if you've been told you can't be hypnotized, don't be too quick to believe it. Maybe your hypnotherapist didn't use effective inductions or you lacked rapport with that particular practitioner. Or maybe you just need to have more patience with yourself and practice a bit more.
Q. Can hypnosis help me?
A. While it is not a panacea, nor a substitute for medical or psychiatric attention, hypnosis has proven effective for literally hundreds of issues, from overcoming test anxiety and bad habits to managing pain and overcoming procrastination and yes! Incredible results with weight management and smoking cessation. So chances are excellent it can help you as well, whether you want to use hypnosis as your sole method of treatment or in conjunction with other therapies recommended by your doctor or therapist. Maybe you're aware that hypnosis has helped people stop smoking or lose weight, but your life challenge is different. Maybe you've fallen into the habit of drinking a bit too much wine in the evenings, or you suffer from near-paralyzing stage fright or test anxiety. Or perhaps you just can't get yourself to stop picking your face or pulling your hair. You may be wondering if hypnosis can help you. The answer is yes, it can. Hypnosis can help with a wide variety of life challenges and concerns.
Since I've been in private practice, I've helped countless people to overcome these challenges successfully with hypnosis. Hypnosis can be used to help you stop or cut back on your drinking, overcome fear of public speaking, be calmer and more relaxed during tests, and many other issues. Often the results are dramatic and can be achieved in a relatively short amount of time.
Q. Why choose Alpha-Omega Hypnosis?
A. All my sessions are live, personalized and designed to achieve maximum results in the shortest possible time. I listen very carefully to what you have to say, asking questions so that I can design post-hypnotic suggestions that are meaningful to you. I am very invested in seeing clients achieve results in as short a time as possible, and work very hard towards that end. I work with clients using a powerful combination of proven hypnosis techniques, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP),and when appropriate, Parts Therapy, regression and more. Some hypnotherapists will meet with you for 20 minutes, then put you in a room by yourself with a recorded CD. While this can be effective, it generally takes longer to achieve the desired results and is an impersonal approach. I treat each client as the unique, original individual that they are. That is what makes an individual, private session with Alpha-Omega Hypnosis so powerful.
Q. Will I be hypnotized even during the first session?
A. Yes. The first session includes actual hypnosis, as do all sessions. This consists of an "induction" or relaxation technique, usually followed by positive suggestions, mental imagery, remembering successful events, and possibly more advanced techniques such as NLP, Parts Therapy or regression. Afterwards, I'll ask you what you liked, how you feel, assign homework and discuss next steps. All sessions are private, very confidential and take place in a professional office space.
Q. How many sessions will I need?
A. There are no simple answers to this one. Each person and situation is different. For most issues I recommend starting with 3 to 6 sessions and then assessing your progress at that time. The only exception is smoking, which can be done in just two sessions. Remember, you may have spent years thinking and behaving a certain way, so it may take some time to achieve the desired results. Prepare to make an investment in your well-being. With that said, you should experience some improvement even after one session. And sometimes this improvement is dramatic.
Q. What determines results?
A. The results you'll experience depend upon many factors, including your readiness to change, what kind of rapport you have with your hypnotherapist, what inductions and techniques are used, and how good of a subject you are. Also, how regularly you do your own self-hypnosis also directly impacts the results.
Myths and Misconceptions
Perhaps
no other natural phenomenon has as much mystique surrounding it as
hypnosis does. Thanks to stage hypnotists and Hollywood movies, hypnosis
appears to be part magic and part hype, part mystery and curiosity,
either a tool of incredible power or a mere magician's trick. Separating
fact from fiction is no easy task given the mass media.
Here,
then, for your amusement and education, are some of the common myths
and misconceptions surrounding hypnosis, as well as what is known about
this simple yet powerful technique for effecting change.
Myth: Hypnosis is not accepted by western medicineit is hocus pocus.
Fact:
Hypnosis has been recognized by the American Medical Association since
1958 as an effective treatment method. One of the reasons why it is not
used more often is the time involved in doing an induction versus the
speed of drugs. However, hypnosis does not have any side effects.
Myth: Hypnosis is mind control.
Fact:
You need deprivation for mind control. Hypnosis is merely focused
concentration. With hypnosis, you are in control of your own experience
at all times. It is not mind control.
Myth: Hypnosis is truth serum.
Fact: You can lie or edit under hypnosis all you want. It is not truth serum. You won't tell any secrets under hypnosis either.
Myth: I'll lose control under hypnosis.
Fact:
You are always in control of your own experience. All hypnosis is, in
fact, self-hypnosis. Hypnosis is much like a daydreamyou hear what's
going on, and if something disturbs you, you refocus your attention and
come awake if you like.
Myth: I won't remember anything that happened during hypnosis.
Fact:
You will hear and remember everything that happens under hypnosis,
unless you go into the deepest of all trances, a "somnambulistic" state.
Your mind is alert, your body relaxed, and you will remember what
transpired to the same degree as you would recall a conversation, for
instance.
Myth: Hypnosis can make people do things they ordinarily wouldn't do.
Fact:
You will never do anything under hypnosis that violates your own moral
code. If a stage hypnotist tells you to bark like a dog, and you have no
moral inhibitions against doing so, you may well comply. Another person
might find that action insulting and so would not do it.
Myth: I don't think I can be hypnotized.
Fact:
The vast majority of the population can be hypnotized. In fact, most
people go in and out of trance several times during the day. If you've
ever daydreamed, were totally engrossed in a book or movie, or passed
your exit on the highway, you were in a light trance state. High
intelligence, a strong will, a strong imagination, an analytical
mind-all respond to hypnosis. The main qualification is an ability to
concentrate and trust the process. Several people have come to me and
have reported that other hypnotists told them they couldn't be
hypnotized. In every case this was simply not true. I had absolutely no
trouble getting them hypnotized.
Myth: You need a deep trance to get results.
Fact:
Most of the work that we do requires only a light trance. Issues such
as weight loss, smoking, procrastination and dozens of others require
only a light trance to effect change. Now, if you're going in for
surgery or under the dentist's drill, you want to make sure you are in a
deeper trance. But depth has very little to do with achieving results.
The best thing to do is just relax and go along with the process.
Myth: I'll know if I'm hypnotized
Fact:
Most people cannot tell if they're hypnotized. That's because they
expect to be so deeply under that they won't hear anything or remember
anything. The truth is, you will hear and remember everything that's
said under hypnosis. Your mind is alert, but relaxed. I tell my clients
let me worry about whether or not you're hypnotized, and just allow the
process to do the work
Myth: I'll know right away if it's working or not.
Fact:
You won't know at the time if you're being hypnotized. The proof will
be in the pudding. Your feelings and actions in the days to come will be
the measure of your success. Recently I had a 9-year old girl who came
to see me for thumb-sucking. After her first session, she was sobbing
because she was so sure nothing had happened, and hypnosis didn't work
for her, and she felt desperate to change. One week later her mother
brought her back to me and said that her daughter had some "good news"
for me. Sarah (not her real name) reported that she hadn't sucked her
thumb once in the entire week, something that had never happened before.
Several of her neighbors have come to see me since, and say that it's
been six months and they haven't seen her suck her thumb once. The moral
of this story is "your conscious mind is often the last to know." So
relax and enjoy the process.
Myth: The hypnotist has all the power. He does it to me.
Fact:
You are responsible for your own experience under trance. The
hypnotherapist is merely a guide, a facilitator. He or she cannot "make"
you do anything against your will or intent. Some of my clients wish I
had that kind of power, so I could magically make them quit smoking or
start looking for a new job. But only you have that kind of power and
control.
Happy Surprises & Beneficial Side Effects
Clients
are often delighted and surprised to discover that they receive more
benefits from hypnosis than they anticipated. Many book an appointment
for one issue, only to discover that, not only are they achieving that
goal, but they are sleeping better than they have in years. Still others
find that perhaps their road rage has just disappeared, or that they
seem to have more energy, are getting along better at work and so on.
Some start writing again or pick up old forgotten hobbies. At the very
least, most feel calmer and more relaxed. They report this regardless of
whether we work on smoking cessation, weight loss, test anxiety,
irrational fears, drinking, or letting go of a lost love.
LOSE THAT WEIGHT NOW! PERMANENTLY!
Hypnosis can help you get your body back. Maybe you want to get off sweets, carbs, junk food or fast food. Or perhaps you just want to be satisfied with less. And stop the nighttime bingeing.
Maybe you want to start exercising on a regular basis for life. Perhaps you've struggled for years, only to gain and lose the same twenty pounds. Hypnosis can help break this negative cycle and help you make permanent, lasting lifestyle changes.
Countless people have used hypnosis successfully to take weight off, and keep it off. In fact, according to a Dateline Study and others, those who used hypnosis not only lost weight, but they kept it off longer than those who just used dieting alone. That is because until you change the underlying beliefs that caused the overeating/overweight, any diet will achieve only temporary results. Clearly, those who used hypnosis were able to make changes at deeper levels of the mind, so that their eating habits were changed for life.
Once your subconscious mind accepts the ideas that you're satisfied with less and make healthy choices, suddenly it's easy to lose weight and stay on track. Hypnosis can help eliminate the struggle and the feeling of deprivation many by giving you post-hypnotic suggestions that you are naturally satisfied with less, you eat only when you are hungry, and stop eating once your hunger is satisfied, among other things. We also address the emotional reasons why you may be overeating, such as loneliness, boredom, stress, or to reward yourself.
Q. Can Hypnosis help with weight loss?
A. Yes. We also address the emotional reasons why you may be overeating, such as loneliness, boredom, stress, or to reward yourself.
Q. Can hypnosis help me get off sweets, junk food and eat less?
A. Yes. I've personally helped thousands of people in my practice to drastically cut back or eliminate sweets from their diet, stay away from junk food, and gain some control over their portions. I include stress reduction and self-esteem suggestions in every session, because the research shows that it is easier to lose weight when we are feeling better about ourselves and are less stressed. There are several NLP and other proven hypnotic techniques that I use to achieve these results, as well as suggestions that food (or sweets or junk food) is becoming less and less important to you, that you naturally prefer (crave) healthier foods, and so forth.
Q. How many sessions does it take?
A. This can vary from person to person, but in general, I recommend 4 sessions to start for weight loss. This is for several reasons. First, weight loss tends to be a bit more complex, in that there are usually several emotional reasons why we're overeating (stress, boredom, loneliness) and several behaviors we want to change (late-night munchies, addiction to sweets, portion control, lack of exercise). Hypnosis works best when we focus on one issue or behavioral goal at a time. If we try to do too much in one session, we dilute the results. So for best results, it is best to concentrate on one goal per session. For instance, one session might be devoted to portion control, another to getting off of sweets, another to exercise motivation, and so on. Sessions also build on one another and have a cumulative effect. If youve struggled with weight loss for many years, are clinically obese or have sabotaged yourself in the past, then six sessions may be a more realistic number for you. I do have package rates that make this more affordable. Call for rates.
Q. Can I use hypnosis to stay on Weight Watchers, South Beach, Atkins or Herbalife?
A. Yes, and hypnosis can make it much easier to stick with any one of these weight management plans. For instance, if you choose to stay on South Beach, I can give you suggestions that you choose good, healthy carbs and pass on the high fat ones and/or that you're very satisfied on this plan. If it's Weight Watchers, suggestions can be given that you find it easy to stay within your points total, that you write everything down, that you feel satisfied on the plan, etc. Hypnosis can be an excellent complement to your diet plan. Of course, many people choose to do hypnosis without any particular diet in mind, and that works just as well
Q. I feel my eating is out of control. Can hypnosis help?
A. Yes. When eating is out of control, emotional issues need to be addressed. Perhaps you are eating to alleviate stress,
frustration, boredom or loneliness. Or maybe you think you need the weight for protection or that you don't deserve to look and feel your best. Maybe you like to reward yourself with food. Whatever the reason, hypnosis can help once again. Under trance, you'll be given suggestions that apply to your unique situation, goals and needs. For example, you'll receive strong post-hypnotic suggestions that you now deal with your emotions in a positive, constructive manner and stop using food to satisfy your emotional needs. Powerful NLP techniques and Parts Therapy may also be used to achieve results.
*Note: if you have been diagnosed with an eating disorder, I will need a consent form from your therapist or medical doctor to work with you.
Q. How does your weight loss program work?
A. During the first session, Ill ask you a series of in-depth questions so that I can develop the most effective, results-oriented session for you. For best results, both the underlying emotional reasons for eating as well as specific behavioral changes will be addressed. Each session includes some stress reduction and self-esteem boosting, because we know every issue is resolved faster when we are feeling better about ourselves.
You determine your priorities. Ill ask you what specific behaviors youd like to change, and where youd like to start. For instance, maybe you want to get off sweets, eat less and exercise more. Ill then ask you to prioritize your goals, although I may make recommendations. Hypnosis works best when we focus on one goal at a time. If we try to do too much in one session we dilute the results. Or perhaps you feel you always sabotage yourself and dont know why. In that case, Id recommend doing some advanced techniques to discover why for our first session.
Q. How effective is hypnosis for weight loss?
A. The good news is that hypnosis is very effective for weight loss. A recent Dateline Study showed that hypnosis was the most effective way to lose weight, even over Atkins. Recent studies have also shown that those who use hypnosis are able to keep the weight off longer than those who simply go on diets.
You can use hypnosis to help you:
Stop eating sweets/junk food.
Get off Fast Food.
Stop late-night munching.
Stop overeating/eat only when you are hungry.
Start making healthier choices.
Enjoy smaller portions.
Enjoy a healthy relationship with food.
Hypnosis can even help you stop bingeing and purging.*
